The Women Of The Year Lunch And Assembly was created 51 years ago by the Founder President, Lady Tony Lothian OBE and a group of visionary women to celebrate the achievements of women.

Esther Hyman was named as a Woman of the Year 2006 for her positive response to the events of 7th July 2005 and for her fundraising efforts for the Miriam Hyman Memorial Fund.

The award lunch was a very enjoyable event bringing together women from all walks of life and recognising their contributions to society. Hosted by Sandi Toksvig with a welcome from Joan Armitrading (President) and Eleanor Angel (Chairman), the Keynote Speaker was Martha Lane Fox of lastminute.com. All the women present are recognised as Women of the Year, and the lunch was followed by the presentation of four special awards (see The Women of the Year website for details).
