On Sunday 9th December Chris Riley, co-producer of award-winning film In The Shadow Of The Moon introduced a special screening to raise money for the Miriam Hyman Memorial Fund. Chris was a good friend of Miriam's.
The event, timed to coincide with Miriam’s birthday on 30th November, had a warm atmosphere. The audience enjoyed the different aspects of the film, and it was followed by a lively Q & A session with Chris and an auction of memorabilia including framed photographs signed by Apollo astronauts and a sheet of the original music score from the film.
Chris says: “It's at times like this I miss Miriam the most, when there's something I want to share with her. This film screening in her name was the next best thing.”
Miriam's sister, Esther, says: “It was such an enjoyable event, from the great location at the Tricycle Cinema to the film, which we all found enthralling and moving, as Miriam would have done.”
The total raised for the MHMF was approximately £2,000.
Thanks to Chris Riley and all at the Tricycle Cinema for all their efforts, and to everyone who came along and made the event a success.

Here is the information that was on this web page before the event:
Chris Riley, Co-Producer of this award-winning film, was a good friend of Miriam's. In 2004 Chris produced the BBC's two part drama documentary “Space Odyssey: Voyage To The Planets”, and Miriam was one of the picture researchers on the accompanying book. She encouraged Chris's “In The Shadow Of The Moon” project from the start, so he felt that this special screening would be an appropriate way to support the MHMF.
Chris says, “Miriam and I had worked together at the BBC on books and images covering a history of planetary exploration and often marvelled together at the beauty of the images of Earth from Space. The last time we met I told her that we hoped to start work on the film in the late autumn of 2005. I know she would have loved to see the end product. I think she would have liked it. Amongst other things this film is a celebration of those images which Miriam found so breath-taking.”

In The Shadow Of The Moon: The story of the people who went to the Moon, told in their own words.
Between 1968 and 1972 twenty-four Americans journeyed to the Moon. They remain the only human beings to have visited another world. In this film the Apollo astronauts tell their own story, and share their reflections on what these great voyages of exploration meant to them and to humanity. The film-makers have shot intimate and revealing interviews with prime crew members from every Apollo mission from Apollo 8, the first voyage around the Moon, to Apollo 17, the last lunar landing, during which two men lived on the surface for more than three days and nights. The interviews are interwoven with re-mastered NASA film footage, much of it never used before.
