Keren Querfurth's New York City Marathon Run
6th November 2006
John, Mavis and Esther are very grateful to Keren Querfurth, Miriam's close friend, who ran the New York Marathon on November 6th 2005, in memory of Miriam. This was the first contribution to the barely-established Miriam Hyman Memorial Fund and Keren raised over £4,000! She ran much of the way with her younger sister Gilly (pictured with Keren below).
Keren has to be congratulated for completing the Marathon in five hours and two minutes, despite losing a month in training because of a knee injury. She said “In spite of the pain it was an exhilarating experience”. Keren hopes that “in some small way, by saving sight, Miriam didn’t die for nothing”.
