Miriam's Vision & the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic: Developing Resilience

The Miriam Hyman Memorial Trust has responded to the Covid-19 pandemic with a session that can be used independently by students in their homes.

The theme of resilience in adversity runs throughout the subject modules in the Miriam's Vision education resource. But with the current Covid-19 pandemic, students are directly affected by global events that are forcing them to draw upon their resilience in new and demanding ways.

Developing Resilience: The 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic is the MHMT's bespoke session created especially to be used by students during the Covid-19 lockdown, helping them to focus explicitly on their own emotional resilience; what it is, when they have drawn upon it, and how it can strengthen with time and experience.

The activities are intended for students of around 9 to 14 years old. They can work at their own level, independently or with support. When schools re-open teachers can use the activities in their classrooms.

Students are encouraged to share their work product to support and inspire each other. We will upload submitted copies of writing and photos of art and sculpture onto the Miriam's Vision website and students will receive the book Mimento: Paintings & Pastels by Miriam Hyman, and a copy for their school.

The MHMT hopes to support young people at this difficult time, and to help them to improve their own resilience and wellbeing.
